Privacy in the Cosmos

Your reflections are sacred stardust. This covenant explains exactly what Afterlight collects, how your emotional vault stays sealed, and the sovereign rights you hold over every memoir.

01What We Gather

Afterlight is built to collect as little as possible. To run your emotional constellation, we handle only what is essential:

  • Account essentials — an email address and an encrypted authentication token to sync your sanctuary across devices.
  • Your reflections — voice recordings, transcribed memoirs, and generative vignettes, all encrypted on your device before transit.
  • Anonymous telemetry — aggregate crash logs and performance signals that carry no readable journal content.

02Cryptographic Sanctuary

Every entry inside your Afterlight journal is encrypted on your local device with end-to-end symmetric keys before it ever reaches a synchronization pipeline. We see only ciphertext.

CRITICAL COVENANT: We hold no central master keys. We cannot read, recover, or hand over your stardust archive — not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. Your emotional vault is sovereign and entirely under your guard.

03How Your Data Is Used

We process your reflections for one purpose only: to surface the emotional weather metrics and constellation maps you came here for. Analysis runs on-device where supported, or in secure, sandboxed cloud clusters.

We do not train large language models on your private journals, transcripts, or recordings. We never sell your data, and we never monetize the contents of your sanctuary through advertising or profiling.

04Cosmic Companions

A small constellation of trusted infrastructure partners helps Afterlight orbit — cloud hosting, encrypted storage, and speech-to-text processing. Each is bound by strict confidentiality terms:

  • Processors only ever touch encrypted or ephemeral data, never plaintext memoirs.
  • We do not share, rent, or sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
  • Transcription clusters drop their processing footprint immediately after returning your vignette coordinates.

05Your Sovereign Rights

You retain full command over your presence in the cosmos. At any moment you may export your entire archive, correct your account details, or permanently delete your constellation and every associated record.

DELETION IS FINAL: When you erase your vault, your encrypted reflections are purged from our pipelines beyond recovery. Because we hold no master keys, there is no backup we can restore from afterward.
